Munich shopping centre attack: What we know so far about last night’s shooting
Yesterday evening a shooter opened fire on shoppers at the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum mall in Munich's north-western suburb of Moosach.
Police said this afternoon the attack was not a terrorist incident and was in fact a "classic shooting rampage".
It was initially suspected to be a terrorist attack, heightened by another incident in Bavaria this week in which a 17-year-old Afghan injured four people on a train close to the town of Treuchtlingen, in an attack later claimed by Islamic State (IS).

Ten people – including the shooter – were killed and at least 16 others, including children, were injured. Three remain in a critical condition.
Police have identified the shooter as 18-year-old German-Iranian David Ali Sonboly. They have described Sonboly as a lone wolf attacker, contrary to earlier reports that there were up to three shooters involved.
After a siege that lasted several hours, during which time public transport services were closed and residents were told to stay indoors, Sonboly's body was found about a kilometre away. He had apparently shot himself.
"Based on the searches, there are no indications whatsoever that there is a connection to Islamic State," Munich police chief Hubertus Andrae said this afternoon.
In a police search of Sonboly's room, literature related to mass killings was found, while the interior minister of Bavaria has said the fifth anniversary of Anders Breivik's massacre in Norway should be considered a motivation, Sky News reported.
The Iranian state news agency IRNA reported the country's foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said: "Today, fighting terrorism, in any form and place, is an urgent demand of the world community… that should be considered as the top priority by all countries in an international consensus."
Munich police have asked members of the public to submit any photos, videos or audio recordings they took during the mass shooting to help them collate evidence. A video has emerged on Twitter in which a man, presumed to be Sonboly, shouts "I am German".
German Chancellor Angela Merkel's chief of staff has announced she will convene her security council today in Berlin. Interior minister Thomas de Maiziere is returning to the country – he was visiting the US when the attack occurred.
