Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere a doubt for Premier League season opener against Liverpool while Gunners offload goalkeeper on loan
Injury-plagued Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere’s hopes of playing in his side’s opening match of the Premier League season against Liverpool look to be in doubt after he was ruled out of their pre-season tour of Scandinavia.
A knee injury has forced Wilshere out of Arsenal’s final two warm-up matches before the new campaign. The Gunners face Viking FK in Stavanger, Norway tonight before a clash with Manchester City in Gothenburg on Sunday.
The 24-year-old only played three times for Arsenal last season after suffering a shin injury in pre-season, although he did make three appearances for England during Euro 2016.
Chile forward Alexis Sanchez and Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey have both returned to the Arsenal squad after being granted additional time off following their exploits at the Copa America and Euro 2016 respectively.
Poland international goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, meanwhile, has rejoined Italian side Roma on a season-long loan deal.
