This summer has been pretty volatile, with floods in parts of the country resulting in June being wettest ever, with record-breaking showers throughout the month.
July, however, was much kinder, with the hottest day of the year on 19 July , as London roasted in temperatures of 29 degrees. The beginning of the month marked the 40th anniversary of the of the 1976 heatwave in the UK.
