Now Tesco’s doing same-day click and collect in battle with Amazon
Tesco's adding a new feature to its online shopping and letting customers order and pick up their items on the same day as it takes on AmazonFresh in the battle for grocery delivery market share.
The same-day click and collect service will be available at 300 of Tesco's largest stores across the country in the wake of Amazon launching its online delivery service AmazonFresh and the roll-out of Amazon Prime Now one-hour delivery across the country for non-fresh items.

"We know time is valuable to our customers and they expect more convenience and choice than ever before in how, when and where they do their grocery shopping," said a Tesco spokesperson.
"Our same-day grocery click and collect service is available at nearly 300 stores across the UK and means our customers can get their shopping at a time and location that is convenient for them.”
Items bought online before 1pm can be picked up after 4pm, with a £2 charge for booking a 2-hour window for collection, or £3 at weekends.

Big four rival Sainsbury's has also jumped on the same-day bandwagon, and will test same-day deliveries in London as it seeks to adapt to consumers' changing shopping habits.
Both supermarkets are under pressure from Amazon's well-funded entry into the UK market and they are still facing competition from the rise of the discounters.
A poll of nearly 500 City A.M. readers indicated that four in five people would want to give AmazonFresh a go but did not yet live in an area where it currently delivered.
