Dame Sarah Storey and Jonnie Peacock top British bill on day one of Rio 2016 Paralympics
Britain’s most successful Paralympian, Dame Sarah Storey, will be the most high-profile member of ParalympicsGB bidding for a medal on the first day of competition at the Games in Rio on Thursday.
Storey can win a 12th gold – and a third in succession in the C5 pursuit – by defending her title at around 9:10pm UK time.
Swimmers Jon Fox and Bethany Firth are aiming to retain their 100m backstroke S7 and S14 crowns respectively, while fellow Briton Olly Hynd is out to add Paralympic gold to his world and European 400m freestyle S8 titles.

Competition in the pool starts in the evening and goes on into the early morning.
Sprint star Jonnie Peacock begins the defence of his 100m T44 title when the heats begin on Thursday evening at around 9:40pm.
Other Brits starting their Rio campaigns are Kadeena Cox, who is competing in the 100m T38 as well as in cycling, Sophie Hahn and Libby Clegg.
Heats take place throughout the day and late into the night.
