Tinder’s new feature, Boost, allows you to be a local love god (for 30 minutes)
Worried about not having a date for the weekend? Not getting as many matches as you’d like? Now Tinder wants to help…
From today, British Tinderers will be able to test the dating app’s latest feature: Tinder Boost. The new update bumps your profile up to one of the top profiles in your area – for 30 minutes.
Of course, the best things in life aren’t free. For regular Tinder users, so-called Boosts will be available on a pay-per-use basis at a currently unspecified price.
For those customers who have forked out to subscribe to Tinder Plus, the company has rewarded their loyalty by offering them a generous one free Boost per week.
The feature has already been test-launched in Australia and the dating app claimed profile views increased by up to 10 times.
Boost is the latest in a series of new features released by Tinder in the last few months. It teamed up with Spotify in September, adding music integration to users’ profiles and sharing common music tastes with potential matches.
It also released Super Like, a (definitely non-creepy) setting allowing users to notify a stranger they really really like them without having to talk to them first.
In a statement on its official blog, Tinder said that, as we are all busy individuals, “there just aren’t enough hours in the day… what we need is a boost in the right direction. Tinder Boost gives you exactly that”.
The new feature follows in the footsteps of other, similar, dating sites. Bumble, the female-first dating app, and OKCupid both offer similar short bursts to users’ profiles.
