GLAS
GLAS, the leading independent provider of finance administration services, has appointed Joe Knight to spearhead the expansion of the firm’s direct lending platform. Joe will have responsibility for business development and developing strategic relationships with GLAS’ existing direct lending client base. The move comes as funds increasingly replace banks in the lower to middle market transactions, leading to an uptick in demand for independent agent and trustee services. Joe is an experienced loan professional with over 15 years’ experience in the syndicated loan market. Before joining GLAS, Joe was managing the London office of AgenSynd. Prior to joining the Spanish outfit, Joe spent six years as an associate director at Lloyds Banking Group working in the loans agency team.
Marsh
Marsh has appointed Ailsa King as chief client officer, UK & Ireland. Reporting to Mark Weil, CEO, Marsh, Ailsa will join Marsh’s UK & Ireland executivecommittee and, subject to regulatory approval, will become a director of Marsh. In her role as chief client officer, she will work across Marsh’s operations to leverage the firm’s resources and lead the development of strategic solutions that will assist Marsh’s clients in mitigating the insurance and risk management challenges they face. She will also work closely with executives across Marsh & McLennan’s operating companies, Guy Carpenter, Mercer, and Oliver Wyman, on key client initiatives.
The Consulting Consortium
The Consulting Consortium (TCC), the UK’s specialist in FCA culture and conduct risk, has appointed Phil Deeks as technical director to its advisory team. Phil brings nearly 20 years’ experience in risk, regulation, compliance and conduct, and joins TCC from the Financial Conduct Authority where he was a technical specialist within the life insurance and financial advice sector. Prior to this, he held various senior compliance roles at Deloitte and Legal & General. In his new role, Phil will be responsible for technical oversight of client projects, research into regulatory requirements and expectations, and providing support in developing advisory strategies and business relationships.
Julius Baer International
Julius Baer International in London has further strengthened its UK team with the appointment of Rupert Watkins as relationship manager. He will focus on UK Resident clients. Rupert joins from Barclays, where he worked for five years, most recently as part of the financial institutions team specialising in relationships with hedge fund managers, private equity partners and senior investment bankers. Prior to this, he worked as a relationship manager for Credit Suisse. He is a graduate of Exeter University and holds an MBA from Cass Business School.
