Zlatan Ibrahimovic tempted but non-committal over Manchester United contract extension despite Jose Mourinho declaration
Mamchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has indicated that he is likely to take up the club’s offer to extend his contract into a second season but stopped short of committing to the deal.
The 35-year-old has scored seven goals in 16 appearances since joining United from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer on an initial one-year contract thought to be worth £250,000 a week.
“I feel good, I feel fresh, I feel like now I will probably take a second year,” said the former Sweden international.

“I want to be honest with myself and I don’t want to waste time, but if I feel like now then yes. If it continues like this then it is a yes.”
United manager Jose Mourinho had earlier seemed more certain that Ibrahimovic would accept the extension, which is thought to be triggered automatically if neither party signals an objection.
“Zlatan’s situation is simple,” he said Mourinho. “We are happy with him. We are going to execute the option of a second season. After that he can do what he wants.”
Mourinho, whose team will seek to revive a flagging Europa League campaign against Feyenoord on Thursday, believes it may take the duration of his own contract to take United to his desired level.
“I think the three years contract I was given, it is a fair period of time to be where we want to be,” he added.
“But if you ask me if I am waiting for my third year to have good results? No. I am going immediately to try this season.”
