3: Check out the Christmas lights
The Oxford Street and Regent Street Christmas lights will both be switched on by later this evening, so if you’re in central London, take the opportunity to stroll slower than usual along the major thoroughfares and experience these familiar streets more magically than usual.
4: Buy snazzy new art
Head to the Victorian Hall at Highgate Primary School this Saturday to find the Highgate Art Fair. There are plenty of unique and affordable pieces as well as works from burgeoning names and more established artists.
5: Welcome the incoming Mayor
This Saturday the Lord Mayor’s Show welcomes in the new Lord Mayor and waves off the outgoing one. Expect a procession through the City as well as free entrance to St Paul’s Cathedral and the Bank of England Museum. At 11am the Parade leaves Mansion House and embarks on a three-mile procession down Cheapside and along to the Cathedral, ending up at the Royal Courts of Justice. Expect a golden coach carrying the Mayor, and plenty of live marching bands and other pomp and ceremony to mark the occasion.
