T-Mobile warns customers about data breach
T-Mobile said today that hackers have accessed around 2m customers’ personal data.
The US hack saw cyber criminals steal people’s names, billing zip codes, phone numbers, email addresses, account numbers, and account types.

But the mobile operator said financial data, social security numbers and passwords were not compromised.
“We truly regret that this incident occurred and are so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you,” the company said.
The hack occurred on 20 August, but was “discovered and shut down” by T-Mobile’s cyber security team, it said.
In a statement to Motherboard the firm said the number affected was approximately three per cent of its entire 77m customer base.
Affected customers will have received a text notification, T-Mobile said.
