Bishopsgate stabbing: Four injured in major incident, two suspects being sought
Police are seeking two suspects after three people were stabbed stabbing in Bishopsgate this morning.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of an incident in the heart of the Square Mile just before 10am.
It was reported that three individuals were stabbed and one person was pushed to the floor, as they confronted someone attempting in the middle of a phone robbery.
Three stabbing victims were taken to hospital and do not have life-threatening injuries, while two suspects are still at large.
Chief Superintendent Steve Heatley, from the City of London Police, said: “We received reports of three stabbings and a person pushed to the floor on Bishopsgate at 9.46am and officers arrived at the scene at 9.51am.”
Three victims were taken by London Ambulance Service to a nearby hospital to be treated; they do not have life-threatening injuries.”
“Two suspects are being sought as part of the ongoing investigation related to an attempted phone theft and the incident is not being treated as terror-related.
Eyewitnesses told the Standard, the stabbing victims were attacked when intervening in an attempted phone robbery. The attack reportedly took place 200m from a police station.
A video of the cordon was posted on Twitter from a reported eyewitness, Andrew Cochrane. In the clip there are multiple emergency vehicles.
The City of London Police has been asked for an update on the incident.
