Insulate Britain activists block Blackwell Tunnel and Wandsworth Bridge
Activists from Insulate Britain have launched their eleventh day of protest at London’s Blackwall Tunnel and Wandsworth Bridge today, according to reports.
The Blackwall blockage is expected to hinder the route for commuters travelling into London for the east.
It comes despite a government injunction put against them, prohibiting them from blocking traffic following a string of protests on the M25. The activists want the government to commit to providing insulation for 29 million homes.
Insulate Britain spokesperson Craig Scudder tole GB News this morning: “We’re carrying on. There’ll be disruption today and I apologise for that but we’re carrying on until the government issues a meaningful statement on how they’re going to address this issue.
“We’re creating jobs, we’re stopping people dying, we’re taking people out of fuel poverty – it really is just a win win win.”
At Blackwall Tunnel, reports of a woman who has been prevented from reaching her mother who is being transported to hospital via an ambulance have emerged.
The woman was seen telling protestors she needed to go to the hospital, where her mother was currently on her way.
“We all believe on what you’re doing but i just need to get to my mum… everybody agrees with you,” she said, according to LBC.
The woman then asked protestors why they were there, to which one of the protestors said: “No one is doing anything.”
