PSG midfielder in custody over team-mate attack investigation
Paris Saint-Germain Feminine’s Aminata Diallo has been taken into police custody following an alleged attack on a her team-mate Kheira Hamraoui .
The PSG midfielder is accused of hiring masked men to injure Hamraoui to reduce competition for playing time.
According to French media, Hamraoui was dragged out of her car by two men and assaulted on 4 November.
Diallo starred in PSG’s 4-0 over Real Madrid in the Women’s Champions League on Tuesday, and was arrested on Wednesday.
In a statement, the club said: “PSG can confirm that Aminata Diallo was taken into custody this morning by the Versailles Regional Police Service as part of the proceedings opened following an attack on the club’s players last Thursday evening.
“PSG condemns in the strongest possible terms the violence committed.
“Since Thursday evening the club has taken all necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being and safety of its entire women’s team.
“PSG is working with the police to clarify the facts. The club is playing close attention to the progress of the proceedings and will study what action to take.”
Diallo, 26, has been capped seven times by France, and won the 2013 Uefa Women’s Under-19 Championships.
The midfielder joined PSG in 2016 from Guingamp and has had loan spells at both Utah Royals and Atletico Madrid since.
Hamraoui joined PSG this season from Barcelona and has so far made five appearances.
Also a midfielder, Hamraoui has 36 caps for France, scoring three goals.
PSG sit top of their Champions League pool with a 100 per cent win record, and are second in their domestic division, behind Lyon.
