Sadiq Khan, the mayor of London, said “everything possible” was being done to vaccinate everyone, according to the BBC.
The news comes just days after the new health secretary Sajid Javid announced in a tweet that he tested positive for coronavirus and has “mild symptoms”.
Javid said he took a lateral flow test on Saturday morning, after he felt “a bit groggy” on Friday night, and is now at home with his family self-isolating.
The health secretary also urged people who have come into contact with anyone that has tested positive for Covid-19 to get tested themselves.
Pop-up vaccination sites have been set up across the city including places like the Tate Modern and football stadiums so that there are 300 locations where Londoners can get their jabs from.
The government set a target for all adults to be offered a first dose, and two thirds their second by today, when most social distancing restrictions have been lifted.
