Ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer becomes ninth member of $100bn club
Former chief executive officer of tech giant Microsoft, Steve Ballmer, has become the world’s ninth person to join the coveted $100bn club.
Now owning the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers, Ballmer stepped down from the helm of Microsoft in 2014.
The ex-tech giant boss has seen his wealth swell by $20.1bn this year alone, driven by the recent rally in tech shares.
Like Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, fellow members of the $100bn club have made their fortunes from technology companies.
Founder of cloud company Oracle, Larry Ellison, was just $1.4bn shy of also adding another digit to his net worth of $98.6bn, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Ellison, who added $18.9bn to his money pot this year, including the nine members of the $100bn club have added around $245bn to their collective fortunes since the turn of the year.
The club, along with Ellison who looks right on the front step, are now collectively worth $1.36 trillion.
