Hong Kong Racing Tips: Larson looking to bounce back for Lor
WITH just 10 race meetings left of the 20/21 season in Hong Kong, trainer Frankie Lor looks set to surpass his best total of 65 winners.
With his present tally standing at 58 winners, and plenty of ammunition to fire before the season’s end, the former assistant to John Size can look back on another season of high achievement.
Lor sends a powerful team of nine raiders to the inner-city track, spearheaded by last start winner Savvy Kingman in the Silver Mine Bay Handicap (2:15pm), and well-handicapped, bottom-weight Everyone’s Delight in the Mirs Bay Handicap (2:45pm).
One horse Lor will be particularly keen on getting into the winners’ circle before the season’s end is LARSON, who finally has his chance to shine in the Deep Bay Handicap (1.45pm).
Expectations were high about this former in-mate from retired trainer John Moore’s stable at the beginning of the current campaign, with two wins to his name and plenty more to come.
That hasn’t materialised, with the four-year-old under a cloud for most of the season – his handicap mark has dropped 11 lbs – and only showing some improvement in the last couple of months.
There was, however, plenty to like about his encouraging performance when third to record-breaking Dancing Fighter over the course and distance a fortnight ago and, with a low draw in his favour, he is capable of bouncing back to winning form.
