Hong Kong Racing Tips: Cheers to reach the Happy Valley Summit
ANTICIPATE reigning champion jockey Zac Purton to put his injury woes behind him when he arrives at Happy Valley with a full book of rides on Wednesday.
The Zac-Man hasn’t been firing on all cylinders over the past couple of months, with niggling injuries causing him as much mental pain as physical.
Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped him riding a steady stream of winners – six from his last 46 rides – and he’s still hard to beat in a driving finish.
The majority of his rides can be given winning chances, notably when he teams up with trainer David Hall, and he’s in a couple of contenders who both look to be in peak condition.
Lightly raced SUMMIT CHEERS looks their best chance when he lines up in the Port Shelter Handicap (1:15pm) over six furlongs.
This Australian bred galloper still looked in need of the experience when an encouraging fifth on only his second run at Sha Tin in March and two subsequent trials will have put him spot-on for this contest.
Purton and Hall also team up with progressive Good Buddy who finally gets his chance to show his best form, when racing over the extended mile for the first time, in the Silver Mine Bay Handicap (2:15pm).
With the likes of Savvy Kingman, Jolly Honour, and well-handicapped All You Know in opposition, this looks a tough race to call but Good Buddy is sure to go close.
