London business benefits scaleup Perkbox travels across the channel
Employee engagement scaleup Perkbox, which taps companies such as Ikea, Odeon and Deliveroo to provide benefits and discounts to small business employees, has today made its first foray outside of the UK to launch in France.
The London company, which has approximately 250 employees under its own wing, is set to open up a new office in Paris to disrupt the market in a country where providing staff with mandatory benefits is a legal requirement.
Perkbox co-founder and chief executive Saurav Chopra told City A.M. the business already has more than 700 companies in France pre-registered to use its services ahead of the launch. He hopes to accelerate this number to reach 3,000 by the end of 2019, which is roughly the same as what it achieved in its first year in the UK.

Additionally, City A.M. understands Chopra’s geographical goals do not stop at France. Launches in other European countries are scheduled throughout 2019, as well as plans to open up in the US and Australia.
The business said it will close its next growth financing round early next year, having raised over £11m to date from venture capital firm Draper Esprit.
Founded in 2015, the firm raked in an annual turnover of £34m in 2017, more than doubling its take of £14.6m a year earlier. It is used by more than 7,000 companies across the UK, including Nandos, Whole Foods and Wasabi.
