The Financial Services Compensation Scheme
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) has announced that former RBS and ABN Amro executive, Caroline Rainbird, will become its next chief executive. Caroline brings a wealth of global experience from a career spanning 30 years within the financial services sector encompassing senior regulatory, strategic, commercial, operational, investment banking, and client led roles. Between 2009 and 2017 she held senior positions at RBS working as director of their corporate services division and then as their managing director of regulatory affairs. From 1995 to 2009 she worked at ABN Amro, undertaking a number of leadership and transactional roles within group shared services, finance, change management and structured finance. Outgoing chief Mark Neale’s last day will be 3 May 2019 and Caroline’s appointment takes effect from 4 May 2019 for a period of three years. She also joins the board of FSCS.
DeVere Group
DeVere Group, one of the world’s largest independent financial advisory organisations, has announced the appointment of Richard Glenn as group chief financial officer. He joins from UAE-based wealth manager Credence International where he was the firm’s finance chief for more than three years. Credence was recently acquired by DeVere Group chief executive, Nigel Green. Richard, who starts his new role with immediate effect, will report directly to Nigel Green and the board of directors, and his primary focus will be the advisory side of the group’s business model, with initial emphasis on the UAE operations. The role of group chief financial officer is a newly created one, with the responsibilities previously being undertaken by other senior board members and managers.
Braemar Shipping Services
Braemar Shipping Services, an international provider of knowledge and skill-based services to a variety of industries. has announced the appointment of Ronald Series as its non-executive chairman. Ronald will also chair the company’s nomination committee. He succeeds David Moorhouse CBE, who retired from the board with effect from 14 April 2019. Ronald, a chartered accountant, has a strong track record of leading businesses in a variety of sectors and significant experience with international companies. He is currently the executive chairman of DX Group, the deliveries and logistics company, and until recently was the senior independent director of Clipper Logistics. He has previously held senior management positions at Lonmin, the platinum group metals producer, Viridian Group, the energy company, and Dubai World, the global investment company.
