UK weather: Coasts braced for ex-hurricane storm Lorenzo
The UK is set for heavy rainfall and gales today as it braces itself for stormy weather from anticipated remnants of Hurricane Lorenzo.
A number of yellow wind warnings for parts of England and Northern Ireland have been released by the Met office ahead of the storm’s arrival, which is set to bring winds up to 60mph in some coastal areas.

The powerful storm is expected to damage power lines and batter coasts in Ireland.
Weather warnings of high wind in south-west England and south Wales were issued by the Met Office, as well an alert over gale-force winds in Northern Ireland.
Possible delays on public transport, roads and flights have been flagged in Norther Ireland.
Statistics from the Met Office show that average UK rainfall was 27 per cent above average for September.

The Environment Agency has issued 12 flood warnings as well as 47 flood alerts across England today.
The storm is “relatively slow moving”, according to a Met Office spokesperson.
Hurricane Lorenzo is the largest recorded storm to have made it so far east in the north Atlantic.
