Therese Coffey replaces Amber Rudd as work and pensions secretary
Therese Coffey has been confirmed as the new work and pensions secretary following the dramatic resignation of Amber Rudd yesterday.
Coffey, the MP for Suffolk Coastal, has previously served as minister of state in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and as deputy leader of the House of Commons from May 2015 until July 2016.

Coffey will take over from Rudd who resigned from the Cabinet and quit the Tory party in protest at Boris Johnson’s decision to sack 21 Tory MPs who backed a bill to block a no-deal Brexit.
