Travel chaos strikes at Euston station
Thousands of passengers have been stranded at Euston this afternoon as a signal failure caused severe delays on all lines out of the station.
Train operators were trying to find replacement buses to get their passengers out of the station, National Rail said.
The signal failures hit earlier this afternoon, with National Rail saying it expected service to be down until 8pm this evening.
However, at just past 5pm, all lines were back working.
“All lines have now reopened at London Euston following a fault with the signalling system at this station. Services are beginning to return to normal, however, disruption is still to be expected and trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised,” National Rail said.
Virgin trains advised its passengers to wait until tomorrow to travel, and said they could travel using Virgin tickets on a series of other operators’ trains.
