Eurostar celebrates new Netherlands train service with Amsterdam-style canal bridge at St Pancras station
Eurostar has built a mock Amsterdam canal bridge at St Pancras station today to mark the introduction of its third daily high-speed rail service to the Netherlands.
The train service from London to Rotterdam and Amsterdam will start on 11 June 2019 after Eurostar first opened its route to the Netherlands last April.
“Our new route to the Netherlands has been met with strong demand from our customers, who increasingly value the ease, comfort and seamless experience of high-speed rail,” said Eurostar chief executive Mike Cooper.
“A third train each day will boost capacity whilst offering more choice and flexibility to travellers connecting between these European cities.”
The company claimed a train journey between London and Amsterdam would bring its route capacity to the equivalent of 12 flights per day, all while generate 80 per cent less carbon per passenger.
Tickets start at £35 one way, while passengers can expect journey times to take three hours and 13 minutes to Rotterdam and three hours and 52 minutes to Amsterdam.
