All Black Carter hit with ban
RUGBY UNION: New Zealand fly-half Dan Carter will miss Saturday’s Test against Italy after being handed a one-match ban.
The All Black, who was punished for a high tackle on Martin Roberts in last week’s win against Wales, will return to face England at Twickenham on 21 November.
Carter, who was man of the match at the Millennium Stadium, may have missed the Italy game anyway as he has a calf injury.
Poyet takes charge of Brighton
FOOTBALL: Former Tottenham assistant boss Gus Poyet has been appointed manager of League One Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Uruguayan, who also played for Spurs and Chelsea, replaces Russell Slade, who was sacked earlier this month.
Poyet has signed an 18-month deal and said promotion to the Championship would be a “realistic” target in that time. He added: “If that is the goal of the club it’s no problem.”
