Endemol buys Tiger Aspect, Tigress and Darlow Smithson to be biggest indie
ENDEMOL, famous for producing Big Brother, has bought Tiger Aspect, Darlow Smithson and Tigress for an estimated £40m from IMG.
The deal will make the entertainment giant the largest independent television producer in the UK, with revenues of more than £250m.
Tim Hincks, chief executive of Endemol UK, said: “We’re excited about working with three of the most successful and creative production companies in the UK. They represent a collection of some of the best creatives in the business and are behind a dazzlingly wide range of genres.”
Tiger Aspect Productions makes a broad range of programmes, such as Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Ross Kemp on Gangs, Benidorm and Charlie & Lola. Its dramas have included Vicar of Dibley.
Darlow Smithson makes documentaries and docu-dramas, such as The Falling Man and Touching The Void. Darlow Smithson incorporates Tigress Productions, which specialises in documentaries. IMG, the sports firm, said the firms had not fitted in with its core business.
