Hearn on the brink
SNOOKER: Promoter Barry Hearn looks set to take over as the new chairman of World Snooker after Sir Rodney Walker was ousted yesterday following a vote of no confidence.
Walker put himself up for re-election after announcing plans to raise the number ranking events from six to 15. Hearn has the support of a host of top players including world champion John Higgins.
