Mutu linked with Man City
MANCHESTER City boss Roberto Mancini wants ex-Chelsea forward Adrian Mutu to join his Eastlands revolution, according to his agent.
The Romanian, sacked by the Blues in 2004 after testing positive for cocaine, is unsettled at Fiorentina.
“Mancini strongly wants him at Man City and said that he would be ideal for his team,” said Giovanni Becali.
England could host U21 Euros
ENGLAND chiefs are considering bidding to host the 2013 European Under-21 Championships. The Football Association has until October to submit a bid to European governing body Uefa.
England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce said: “The FA are carrying out a feasibility study and hopefully that will lead to us bidding for it.”
Hammers eye striker McCarthy
WEST HAM owner David Sullivan is chasing out-of-favour Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy.
Sullivan, who took over the Hammers on Tuesday, says two forwards are needed before the transfer window shuts.
Of McCarthy, he said: “He would be a good acquisition, if that could be achieved. We need at least one striker by the Portsmouth match [on Tuesday].”
Bruce chases Hamburg’s Demel
SUNDERLAND manager Steve Bruce has confirmed his pursuit of Hamburg and Ivory Coast defender Guy Demel.
The 28-year-old, currently at the Africa Cup of Nations, has also been linked with AC Milan. “We have expressed our interest in Guy Demel, but he’s in Angola and we have to wait and see how that develops,” said Bruce.
