Domino’s delivers recession-beating rise in pizza sales
DOMINO’S yesterday delivered a 27.8 per cent jump in pre-tax profit as it vowed to continue its aggressive expansion.
It made £29.9m on sales of £406.9m. The pizza seller reported an 8.4 per cent increase in like-for-like sales. Diluted earnings per share were 13.49p, up 26 per cent.
The firm says it benefited from the increased availability of property during the downturn.
It now has 608 franchised stores across the UK and Ireland and will continue to roll out 55 new branches a year, with an eventual target of 1,200.
The slice of sales taken from online booking leapt an astonishing 40 per cent to £78.5m as customers proved more willing to pay over the internet.
Chief executive Chris Moore said: “I am delighted to report another exceptional set of results. We are in a great position as we enter a new decade and our twenty-fifth year of operating in the UK.”
