Here are the UK’s ten wealthiest people according to the Sunday Times rich list
Jim Ratcliffe, the CEO of chemicals giant Ineos, has been crowned the UK’s richest man.
The self-made chemicals tycoon from Failsworth, Greater Manchester, is now worth £21.05bn, up by £15.3bn from last year.
Every year the Sunday Times rich list looks into the wealth map of Britain. The project, which logs the wealth of the 1,000 richest people in the UK, is now in its 30th year.
This year, a record 145 billionaires have made it into the list, up from 134 last year. The top 1,000 shared an overall total wealth of £724bn, the highest figure that has ever been recorded for list entrants.
This year also marks a record for wealthy women: there are now 141 female entries, with Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken coming in at the UK’s richest woman. Her shared fortune with her husband amounts ti £11.1bn.

Robert Watts, the compiler of the Sunday Times Rich List, said: “Britain is changing. Gone are the days when old money and a small band of industries dominated the Sunday Times Rich List.
“Aristocrats and inherited wealth has been elbowed out of the list and replaced by an army of self-made entrepreneurs. Today’s super rich include people who have set up businesses selling chocolate, sushi, pet food and eggs.
“We’re seeing more people from humble backgrounds, who struggled at school or who didn’t even start their businesses until well into middle age. Meanwhile, technology is also playing a bigger part in helping more young people make their fortunes and small companies to grow.
“Britain’s rich are getting richer, but the cast of Britain’s 1,000 richest people is an ever-changing and increasingly diverse cast of people.”
