Severe delays on Victoria line after person dies in train collision; Highbury & Islington station remains closed
There are severe delays on the Victoria line after a person died in a train collision in north London.
The incident occurred at Highbury & Islington earlier this afternoon, and the line was initially suspended between Seven Sisters and King’s Cross stations, however, full service has since resumed.
British Transport Police (BTP) said: “A person has sadly died after being struck by a train at Highbury and Islington underground station.
“We were called to the scene at 12.23pm today. Officers and paramedics attended but sadly the person died. Enquiries are ongoing to identify them and inform their next of kin.”
The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious, BTP said.
Transport for London said London Underground tickets are being accepted on London Overground, Great Northern, Greater Anglia and local bus services via any reasonable route.
