Shell switches 700,000 customers to renewables as it rebrands First Utility
Energy supplier First Utility has switched more than 700,000 homes to renewable electricity this morning as the company rebrands as Shell Energy.
The firm, which has been owned by Shell for just over a year, officially changed its name with Companies House on Friday, before the big rebrand this morning.

The firm promised that all its tariff would, as standard, be supplied by 100 per cent renewable electricity.
It also offers to supply customers with gas and broadband.
“We are building on the disruptive nature of First Utility to give customers something better. We know that renewable electricity is important to them and we are delivering that, while ensuring good value and rewarding loyalty,” said Colin Crooks, chief executive of Shell Energy.

“We want to attract customers with fair pricing, strong customer service and innovative offers that set us apart from anything available today. Later this year, we’ll be announcing a string of exciting services that offer greater convenience to householders and help make homes more efficient.”
The company will be installing smart thermostats this year and is starting to offer electric car charging points from today.
