Napoli 2, Manchester City 4: Sergio Aguero breaks City scoring record as they reach Champions League knockout stage
Napoli 2, Manchester City 4
Striker Sergio Aguero savoured a night to remember after he fired his way into the record books – and Manchester City into the Champions League last 16.
Aguero’s 178th goal since joining City – a clinical second-half finish – eclipsed Eric Brook’s 77-year-old tally and saw the Argentina star become the club’s all-time leading scorer.

Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones and Raheem Sterling also netted as the Premier League table-toppers came from behind to beat the Italian league leaders in swashbuckling style.
“I’m very happy for this moment, and happy because the team helped support me and the City fans and all the staff. Thank you very much to everyone,” said Aguero.
“Now I am enjoying this moment. I am very happy because it’s one time. Napoli is a good team. Away in the Champions League is always difficult so I’m very happy to win and qualify.”
Headers from centre-backs Otamendi and Stones either side of half-time cancelled out Lorenzo Insigne’s opener, although Napoli drew level through a Jorginho penalty.
Aguero finished a counter-attack led by Leroy Sane to restore the visitors’ advantage and Sterling drilled a low fourth after another breakaway in stoppage time.
City have maximum points from their four games and will clinch top spot in Group F if they win their next game at home to Feyenoord.
Napoli must win both remaining fixtures to have any chance to progressing.
