Lewis Hamilton: How vegan diet has helped me towards a fourth Formula One title
Britain’s Lewis Hamilton believes his switch to a vegan diet has helped propel him to the brink of a fourth F1 world title.
Hamilton’s victory at the United States Grand Prix on Sunday means he is likely to wrap up the drivers’ championship this week in Mexico City.
The Mercedes racer, 32, insists his success this season is in part down to his improved health, which he attributes to becoming a vegan almost two months ago.

“I feel the best I’ve ever felt physically and mentally,” said Hamilton.
“All year I’ve felt very strong mentally but I think physically I’m now taking also a big step and that’s really the decision I made to change my diet. The best decision was obviously moving to this team; the second best was changing my diet.”
Hamilton’s decision to switch diet mid-season attracted questions about whether it could affect his results, but since making the change at the Singapore Grand Prix he has won three of four races and finished second in the other.
Those performances have seen him open up a 66-point lead over title rival Sebastian Vettel, who has also suffered from a series of mechanical problems with his Ferrari.
Hamilton will become only the fifth driver to reach four world championships if he finishes in the top five at the Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday.
There are two more races left on the calendar after that, in Brazil and Abu Dhabi.
