Uber’s top policy chief in Europe Christopher Burghardt has quit amid London licence row

One of Uber’s top policy chiefs in Europe has quit amid turmoil for the tech company over its London licence.

Christopher Burghardt, Uber’s head of policy and communications for Europe. Middle East and Africa since the end of last year, is departing just weeks after another top executive.

Jo Bertram, the woman who established Uber in the UK over the past few years and ended up its boss for northern Europe, announced her exit just over a fortnight ago.

It comes as the controversial ride-hailing firm fights to keep operating in the capital after Transport for London said it would not renew its licence top operate in a shock move.

Burghardt will become managing director of Chargepoint, a charging network for electric cars, the Financial Times reports. The executive told the newspaper the decision was “independent of anything that is happening at Uber”.
