Amazon boss Jeff Bezos and wife MacKenzie announce divorce
Amazon chief executive Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie Bezos, a novelist, have decided to divorce after a long trial separation.

In a joint statement on Twitter, the pair – who have been married for 25 years – said: “after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation, we have decided to divorce and continue our shared lives as friends.”

They both studied at Princeton University, and later met for the first time in New York, where MacKenzie worked for Jeff at D. E. Shaw, a hedge fund. They married in 1993, and moved to Seattle. They have four children.
Last year, they jointly launched the $2bn (£1.56bn) Day One Fund, aimed at helping homeless families and developing preschools.

In 1994, Jeff Bezos founded Amazon, which earlier this week became the world’s most valuable company. He became the world’s richest man last year, with a net worth of $160bn according to Forbes.
