Move over Crossrail: Watch Hyperloop One hit record 200mph in latest test of Elon Musk’s crazy transport system of the future
Hyperloop, the crazy transportation of the future that wants to whizz you hundreds of miles within minutes, has just shown exactly how fast it can go.
The pod and tunnel system has gone faster than ever before, hitting 192mph in fresh tests over in Nevada in the US by Hyperloop One – that’s nearly three times faster than its previous attempt.

Previous tests have seen it hit a not too shabby but far from superfast 69mph. And it also travelled 1,433 feet, nearly five times further than before.
The speeds are reached via electric propultion and developers believe it can reach even greater speeds of more than 300mph that would reduce the travel time between cities such as New York and Washington, or Los Angeles and San Francisco, to just 30 minutes.

“This is the beginning, and the dawn of a new era of transportation,” said co-founder and executive chairman of Hyperloop One Shervin Pishevar.
“We’ve reached historic speeds of 310 km an hour, and we’re excited to finally show the world the XP-1 going into the Hyperloop One tube. When you hear the sound of the Hyperloop One, you hear the sound of the future.”
