Former City stockbroker jailed over indecent images of children
A former stockbroker has been jailed for downloading images of children being sexually abused.
John Hewitt, who was most recently chairman of London-listed property investment firm Highcroft Investments, was given a 12-month prison sentence at Oxford Crown Court last week.
The 72-year-old from Boars Hill, Oxford was also put on the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years.
Hewitt, who held executive positions at Scrimgeour Vickers and Kemp Gee & Co – both now defunct – during an extensive career in financial services, had pleaded guilty to three counts of downloading indecent images of children before his appearance.
In September last year, Hewitt resigned as director and non-executive chairman of Highcroft Investments after 18 years due to “personal reasons.”
The company did not respond to a request for comment.
