England rugby head coach Eddie Jones takes another corporate job with investment bank Nomura

With the Six Nations wrapped up and no England rugby fixture for three months, Eddie Jones has taken on a new job.

The England head coach, who suffered his first defeat after 18 matches in charge against Ireland on Saturday, has secured a second role in the financial sector after agreeing a “three-year partnership” with investment bank Nomura.

Jones’ CV already includes an advisory role with Goldman Sachs, for whom he attends board meetings in Tokyo at least twice a year.

According to Nomura’s head of EMEA, Jonathan Lewis, Jones will present insights from his coaching career to the bank’s clients, explaining how they can be applied in the corporate world.

Nomura said he was “an ideal fit for Nomura’s brand position of connecting markets East and West”.

Jones, who is half-Japanese and coached Japan’s national team to a historic Rugby World Cup victory over South Africa in 2015, will represent the Asian bank to European clients.

“I’m very pleased to be working with Nomura,” said the Australian.

“There are obvious parallels with teams that I’ve coached. I hope to be able to share some of my experiences of what it takes to achieve success at the very highest level of competition with Nomura’s clients and people, as well as on helping diverse groups work successfully together.”
