EasyJet to penalise customers who arrive less than 30 minutes before departure
Budget airline EasyJet is going to be cracking down on passengers who don't arrive early enough, according to reports.
The airline is said to be imposing a new rule that will mean anyone who attempts to get through security with less than 30 minutes before takeoff will be prevented from going "airside" and then speeding to the departure gate.
That could mean that passengers end up paying £80 to switch to another flight, according to the Independent.

It was reported that EasyJet asked Gatwick to reprogramme its security barriers at which boarding passes are scanned, rejecting those with less than half an hour before departure.
At current passengers can go through at any point and run to their departure gate.

And at the moment, EasyJet offers "missed flight cover" for just £7.50 in advance of travel in case of late arrival, which is ramped up to an £80 "rescue fee" if the initial offer is refused.
Apparently EasyJet are doing this for passengers, a spokesperson said, "so that they do not needlessly clear security at the point where the gate is already closed".
