Heads up, bosses: Here’s how to keep your staff happy during Euro 2016
Businesses have been urged to be flexible during Euro 2016 as they battle with staff who want to watch the game.
The guidance, from the conciliation service Acas, is aimed at bosses dealing with a wave of requests for annual leave, as well as sickness absence and unbridled social media use during office hours.
The report says: "Overall, flexibility from both employers and employees throughout the European Cup period is key to a productive business and engaged workforce.
"Before the start of the European Cup or any major sporting event it would be best to have agreements in place regarding such issues as time off, sickness absence or even watching TV during these events.
"By working together both employers and employees will understand the needs of each party."

Acas recommend that staff should be allowed to swap shifts, take a break during match times, listen to the radio or watch the TV during key games.
And the recommendations for staff? Don't hit the booze if your boss has been nice enough to let you watch the football.
The report says: "Some people may like to participate in a drink or two while watching the match or may go to the pub to watch a match live.
"It is important to remember that anyone caught drinking at work or found to be under the influence of alcohol in the workplace could be subject to disciplinary procedures.
"There may be a clear no alcohol policy at work and employees may need a reminder."
But the most important thing is that managers are fair – the report advises that there should be consistency when granting leave, and that all major sporting events are treated the same. Acas says: "Remember not everyone likes football!"
