The Royal Bank of Canada steps into the spotlight as its partnership with the Old Vic bags a Hollywood star
It looks like the Royal Bank of Canada will be taking centre stage in London this summer.
The Old Vic theatre in Waterloo, which the Canadian central bank is a principle partner of, has committed to sponsoring a further 15 productions with the venue as part of its three-year partnership.
The Canadian bank isn't skimping on the star-quality either – Star Wars: The Force Awakens hero John Boyega has been picked to play the lead role in a new version of Woyzeck written by Jack Thorne.
Georg Büchner’s Woyzeck is a major departure from lightsabres and galactic wars. It tells the story of a poor man sentenced to death for murdering his mistress in a fit of jealousy, and is widely regarded as the first “modern” drama.
Dave Thomas, chief exec of European capital markets at RBC said: "We are proud to support The Old Vic at such a transformational time in its history. Our first season as principal partner has exceeded all expectations and we look forward to another exciting year ahead led by Matthew Warchus and his talented team."
"Our partnership with The Old Vic continues a longstanding tradition at RBC of supporting the arts and local communities."
