Huge HD screens – measuring 83m by 12m – will project highly-visible images of the club logo and videos of star players to the outside world.
The screens will be adjustable to allow for different content and designs to be displayed when other events are held at the stadium, but the club said the wrap is nonetheless key "to ensuring the Stadium looks and feels like the unmistakable home of West Ham United".
"Hammers fans will be able to enjoy clips of their heroes past and present as they make their approach to the world-famous venue they will call home from August," read a club statement.
"So expect goals from Dimitri Payet or classic clips from Bobby Moore’s heyday to enthral the Claret and Blue Army on their way in to the Stadium."
Planning authorities will deliver a verdict in the next eight weeks.
