LMAX Exchange’s yacht crew meet and greet the firm’s clients in China as they lead the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race
Fintech firm LMAX Exchange's yacht team never miss an opportunity to network.
Team LMAX Exchange, currently leading the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, were the third to dock in Qingdao, China, this week, and are using their time in the city to catch up with the firm's foreign clients.
The company invited a select group of 80 clients from the region to meet, sail and celebrate with the skipper and racing crew.
Fintech execs tempted the clients to a formal business meeting on Monday with the promise of a tour of the ship and a chance to experience life on the high seas.
LMAX Exchange chief David Mercer, who joined the racing crew earlier this year on their journey from Sydney, Australia, used the team's victory to convince the crowd of clients from private equity firms that his firm is all about success.
He said: "We are serious about ambition and success. Asia is a vital market for our business and with so many important clients based in the region, we felt this would be a fitting location to celebrate the success of Team LMAX Exchange together with our valued clients in such a unique and inspirational way."
The Clipper Race stopover in Qingdao marks the end of race 8 of the 14-stage global challenge. The next race to Seattle sets sail on Sunday, taking teams almost 6000 miles across the Pacific Ocean.
The financial seafarers are set to return to St Katherine Docks in July.
