David Beckham signs deal with Kent & Curwen
David Beckham has signed a five-year deal with upmarket British sportswear retailer Kent & Curwen that will see the former England captain design ranges and promote the brand overseas.
The deal is the first to come out of Beckham and his business partner Simon Fuller’s joint venture with Hong Kong-listed Global Brands Group last year, called Seven Global.
Kent & Curwen’s parent company Trinity is owned by the same family that set up Global Brands.
Beckham will be “personally involved” in different aspects of the Kent & Curwen business, from product development to advertising, Trinity said.
It will pay Seven Global royalties of up to five per cent of Kent & Curwen’s net retail sales and 10 per cent of wholesale sales, with a minimum guarantee of $3.5m in the first year.
