Chelsea transfers: John Stones pleads with Everton to let him join Premier League champions
Chelsea target John Stones has increased the pressure on Everton to accept a bid for him by formally asking to leave Merseyside for west London.
The Toffees have already rejected three bids – the latest for more than £30m – from the Premier League champions for the 21-year-old, who cost £3m when he joined from Barnsley in January 2013.
Jose Mourinho has made Stones, who has four international caps, his priority signing at centre-back, where long-serving captain John Terry’s performances have come under increasing scrutiny.
Colombia winger Juan Cuadrado has returned to Italian football on a season-long loan to champions Juventus following a disappointing seven months at Chelsea.
West Brom have publicly warned Tottenham off Saido Berahino for the second day in succession, announcing they had rejected a second offer from Spurs for the England Under-21 striker.
The Baggies declared on Monday that they had turned down a formal transfer request from the 22-year-old, who scored 20 goals in 45 appearances last season.
