With all the fuss over today's recommendation by the Airports Commission that Heathrow should be given a third runway, what does that mean for the local area?

Although businesses have widely embraced the decision, locals have been vociferous in their opposition. You can understand why: a new runway would require the demolition of the villages of Harmandsworth and Longford, while the M25 would need to be "reconfigured".
But the new runway, to the north west of the airport, will also massively increase capacity in a region which is currently practically crippled.
