2013 Royal Family gift list revealed
It might not come as too much of a surprise that, for the Royal Family, a gift is not just for Christmas – they receive them all year round.
And today, Buckingham Palace has released a list of what was received in 2013. Below are the items the Queen alone received last year.
Highlights for include a commemorative oyster card from Sir Peter Hendy, the commissioner of TfL (very useful).
From confectionary company Mars she got a chocolate Windsor Castle and chocolate Irish State Coach (presumably not life-size, and we're wondering what they were filled with).
The President of the United Arab Emirates sent a family photo in gold jewelled frame set on a decorative jewelled ostrich egg, along with an Arabian Gulf pearl necklace.
And shifting from the sublime to the ridiculous: the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery King George VI Lines gave a velvet-covered hardback book about horses entitled 'Passion'.
To the slightly stingy – the BBC gave her a clock.
