Roaring Rossi’s on cloud nine in the Malaysian rain
VALENTINO ROSSI secured a ninth world title after finishing in third place at a rain-lashed Malaysian Grand Prix.
The Italian needed to finish in the top four to secure another title at the expense of Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo.
“It was a difficult year,” a relieved Rossi said. “This race reflected how the season went – very tough, with some mistakes, some disappointing results.
“But I won six races, I was consistent and it’s another world championship. I thank all the team and everyone who’s helped me.”
Australian Casey Stoner won the race in his Ducati with Spaniard Dani Pedrosa second and Lorenzo fourth.
